Keep Clam and Blog

After looking at a few other blogs I can see that there are a lot of styles to blog. Some are silly while other are more serious. Then some are straight to the point while others are sugar coated. While looking at these I think a blog would be better if it was straight to the point. Also pictures add a lot of visual to what someone is speaking about. Adding a picture can help people understand what you are speaking about a lot better. Also this can help people want to look at what you’re writing about. This can catch a reader’s eye and keep them interested. I know if I see a blog with three pages of a one sided opinion with no picture I will most look at the blog then “x” out the page. I am a little picky about what I read and I know there are others just like me out there that use this same technique.

I now know if I want people to like my blog I should keep it short and sweet. Also keeping it interesting doesn’t hurt your blog. Looking at others blog was very helpful. It helped me see different sides of a story with different views. Also I seen different styles a person can blog and how they could decorate their page. For my blog I will try and have a lot of pictures with a nice short and straight to the point post. If my post do seem longer it is most likely more juicy with information and strong opinions. Some of these goals that I set for myself are realistic. Also one of my major goals is to have people actually like my blog and want to read it. To most people they look at reading as a chore and I want to be an exception to people that feel this way.

A New Chapter

The feeling you get after you finally realize you made it…. No more mommy… no more daddy… just you. They will still be around but, now you can finally make decisions for yourself. Now everything that you do is on you not anyone else. Once you feel like you made it to this stage in your life you my friend… you are finally in college. But what is college? College is basically the highest level of education a person can receive throughout their life. College is what most people look at before they hire you for a job. They usually ask questions such as have you finished college? What degree do you have? What level degree do you have… a masters? But don’t worry it’s not as hard as it seems as long as you do your work.

To me college is basically a feeling of completion. I am no longer a child but, I truly feel like an adult and have a degree to prove it. To me college is a time to meet new friends and recreate myself and not care what anyone has to say about it. Academically I feel college is a great challenge to see where you are in your education and, to teach you what you need to know so you can be the best you can be in your field of study.  During my orientation I thought to myself how would I be able to survive college with all the work and responsibilities. As I come to realize I surpassed my expectations and proved myself wrong. I thought how would I be able to wake myself up which I found it is very simple. I found out I could do all my work and study plus have time for my social life as long as I have time management. Also I play football which will make everything that I have to do that much harder. All you have to do is set goals. I looked at all of my syllabuses so I can try and do my work as soon as possible. Ill rather do all my work early so I don’t have to worry about it later. So far college is fun and I still can’t figure out why people say they don’t like it and they get homesick.  As of now I think college is a great experience and everyone should try it. Attending scsu was one of my best ideas i ever had in my life. The whole school as a community is polite, helpful, and fun. To anyone reading this I suggest to check out scsu. Go owls!!!

Time to Grind

Chase Hall

On a college campus there are plenty of ways to get distracted from your work. There are plenty of parties and plenty friends to draw you away from your work. But when it is finally time to do your work it can be hard. You may be in work mode but your friends want to slack off. But where could one go? Dorms?? That would be hard someone may think. But in most dorms there is a computer lab and in the computer lab you have to be quiet. It is on your basement level of your dorm building.(for example my on the basement of chase) A computer lab is a great place to study because you have to stay quiet and the people next to you have to do work. You have to speak quietly and if you want to listen to music you have to listen to it quietly. Also there is a printer there to print your work after you are done. Not a lot of people know there is a computer lab in their dorm and if they do most give up after they can’t find it. So now it’s like your own little get away and this is the last place your friends will look. Just try and give your lab a chance and you will be impressed. Just remember not to tell everyone because, then that will be the new party room.

Your Weekly Dosage

This week’s word is inquiry which means: “asking for information”. It’s never bad to want to learn information. That is what makes a person grow mental. Inquiry is important because, it can show a person that you are paying attention to what point they were trying to get across to you. Also by asking questions it can help you understand the topic of a conversation or even a class lesson. A lot of people such as teachers and coaches say “there are no dumb questions”. This short phrase says a lot and means a lot. It basic means if you don’t understand something to ask questions. Don’t remain ignorant to the topic of discussion. There is no worse feeling then someone having to repeat themselves because, you nodded your head yes that you understand even though you didn’t understand. So just use good judgment and keep the word “inquiry in mind”.
