Not as I planned…

My first ever college semester is finally over and I had a lot of ups and downs. I didn’t reach my goal that set for myself for my grades for my first semester. I was hoping for B’s but, most of my grades are C‘s. At least I passed all of my classes and didn’t fail anything. I feel that next semester I can pick up my grades because, one major issue that I had was my procrastination with my school work. Now I know for next semester I have to finish my school work as soon as possible. After football practice I am physically tired and the longer I wait the later it gets. When I gets later I become more tired and I want to go to sleep as soon as possible.

One major challenge that I had was when I missed a math test and my teacher was trying to fail me for the year. I felt grateful that I scored high enough on my final in order to pass it with a high grade. I know I passed because, of hard work and studying. I knew that I was bad in math it’s just the missed test that messed up my average. I felt proud of myself when I was able to pass the class and not fail because, it could mess up my football career and college career.

For INQ I am happy to say that it was my favorite college course out of all my classes. Even with all the blog’s I missed because, I forget to do them I still enjoyed the class. Sometimes it felt like a chore to do every week but, the topics that I had a chance to write about made it better. I loved the class discussion because, we were able to say our opinions on different topics. Also we were able to learn different tips and tricks about attending SCSU. I feel that making newcomers take INQ is a great choice by SCSU because, without that class I will be lost.

The FYE program was also a very helpful tool for my first semester. They offered different programs and events I could attend during the weekend’s. This help out a lot so I wouldn’t lose my mind on the weekends because, I didn’t always have money to go out with my friends. Also it was safer to attend to because, I didn’t have to worry about my drunk friends getting hurt or having to get into a fight. For some reason every time we go out me or my friends are about to get into a brawl because, people always threaten us thinking we will roll over and when we don’t back down they have to prove themselves. We have to look out for each other because, we all play football and also they are my friends. My friends and I were threatened to be shot by a gun more then once and we were threatened to get beat up during and after parties. Lucky each time the people were all talk and nothing happened to us. The best way to avoid conflict is to show no fear so people will leave you alone and not be tempted to mess with you.

The FYE program gave me a chance to have fun without having to worry about someone trying to fight with us. Also we get to save cab fare and are able to get free southern gear by attending these events. FYE and INQ class saved me so many times from the dangers of new haven. I enjoy SCSU and thanks these the people, professor’s, and different programs I was able to have a safe and eventful time. If anyone would ever ask me I would tell them that SCSU is a great school to look at for college!!!
