Weekly Dosage...
This
week’s words are innovation, intelligence, and dedication. Innovation is when
you try to think outside of the box in order to create something different. This
is needed in order to create great things and inventions. Intelligence is how
smart someone is and that is needed in order to make your dream become a
reality. Dedication is when you put all of your energy into one thing. When you
combine these three things any task can be completed. One would be able to
impress themselves when they set their mind to something and with some smarts
you can turn that idea into a reality.
How My Peers Feel…
Blog B
One great question that I read from
one of my peers is that “are schools at fault for killing creativity?” by Jeff.
I feel that some schools are because, some school wants kids to be only taught
one way and teachers are frowned a pun for not following the procedures. One example
is that I went to a catholic school and they wanted us to be taught the way
they wanted. Also at this school they only gave us textbooks that they approved
for us to be taught out of. They feel that some textbooks teach thing that go
against the catholic beliefs so they didn’t want us to read it.
I felt that it is not fair because,
they are withholding information from us. So they choose to have their student
to remain ignorant in certain topics because, they didn’t agree with it. In my
high school they didn’t even want to teach revolution because, they felt it
went against god. So I do agree that it is the schools fault that peoples
creativity is not as good as it could be. Some schools hold back its students
in order to have the student body act a certain way. It is as if they try to
program us to think a certain way which is bad and can hold back students.
I also agree with jeff when he said
that the schools hold them back with the point that he gave with the child
dancer with A.D.D. I feel that this is a strong response because, he stated
information from an outside source to
back up his opinion which can make his argument valid. I can apply this to my
studying skills because, sometimes just learning the material isn’t enough. When
using outside sources to help better understand a topic can help you out in the
long run.
Is It College Worthy???
As you become older your school work will should become
harder and harder. Just so you can challenge yourself with harder work so you
can become smarter. In college most question will want you to analyze a problem
before answering it. In high school they may want you to just answer the
question and that’s it but, college you have to take it a step forward. One great
question was “would you rather hire a hard worker or a creative worker? Why?”
This is
a good question because, it forces you to think deeper for the answer to the
question. It is also a good question because, both workers have their benefits.
The question is which one do you think will benefit you more or which one do
you believe has more value. Hard work and creativity are both two things that
are important and not only do you have to pick one but, you have to explain it.
I would
rather hire a hard worker because, I will always have a guarantee job done when
hiring a hard worker. If you hire a creative worker they may not get the job
done because, they took too long trying to be different with the task. Also if
you hire a hard worker they may try and be a little bit more creative to go out
of their way in order to do the task to the best of their ability.
Some more great questions are “can
you still be creative without inspiration from an outside source? Why?”. Another
great question is that “ is it worth trying to be creative I someone does not
value your work?”. Another good question is “do you think schools should focus
more on creativity or no? why?”. These are good question because, they are
opinion question which can never be wrong. The only problem is that you have to
back up that opinion in order to be correct.

Halloween Parties!!!
During
this week I attended a party downtown at a place called toads. It was not a regular
party though because, people were all dressed up in costumes. I thought it was
fun because, people were dancing and they had good music. Also in farnham hall they
threw a little party which I also thought was a great party. They had food
their with a costume contest and of course a lot of candy. It felt good that
people had the Halloween spirit all around. It was fun because, it was my first
college Halloween parties and I never really went to Halloween parties before
when I was younger and even when I was in high school.
Weekly Dosage...
This week’s words are creativity, inspiration, and innovation
thinking. Creativity is when you think outside of the box to do or create
things that is different from everyone else. Some people find creativity enjoyable
because, not everyone is good at it or chooses to embrace it. Inspiration is
something that makes you want to do or try something. For example a child may
watch LeBron James play basketball and be inspired to be the best that they can
be in that sport. It is always good to be open minded to be inspired because,
when people work off of inspiration the outcome of their work is usually very
good. Innovation thinking is when someone finds new methods or new ways of
thinking when doing an activity. This is always needed to improve the way of
living for people as a whole. If you tie these three things together the
outcome of anything you try to accomplish will always be good.
Creative bibliography
Everyone is good at something you just have to find out what
it is. Being creative is a skill that people don’t like to work on. One question
is that “what is the dumbest idea?”. I believe that there are no dumb ideas and
as long as you believe in that idea it was a success. Not all inventions will
work but, in is great to use innervation in order to try and make your idea a reality.
These ideas may improve living for everyone by improving inventions already
created inventing things to improve quality of living by simplifying things.
Another
great question was “was anyone there to witness or appreciate it?”. Sometimes
you don’t need the acceptance of other in order to be great. Sometimes just
inventing something in order to complete a person’s personal goals. Also you
may not need feedback from other because, you may be testing out something and
it may not be your best work. Also when people invent things or ideas don’t immediately broadcast it to everyone they
know. They may tell a few people but, that is it. When they invent their idea
they try to improve it to the best of their ability then when the inventor
feels that their invention is ready then they start to show it off to people.
One of
my greatest fears of all is not having people not accept me. I felt the fear
question was one of the best questions to be asked. I work my hardest to fit in
with people but, not by following what everyone else is doing. Rather than do
that I try to be myself to the best of my ability and have people like me for
that. I am afraid of people judging me in a negative way after we have passed
the first impression stage. Not everyone has a good first impression but, as I get
to know a person I would hope that they would learn to like me. If they don’t I
actually become very self-consensus about it and it bothers me to the point
that I will go out of my way to make that person like me. They only time I don’t
care if a person doesn’t like me is if I don’t like them but, it takes a lot for
me not to like you.

Midterm Reflection…
Last week we submitted our midterm videos and I worked
really hard on it. I followed the requirements and guideline for the project. My
video was over five minutes long and I interviewed the required amount of
people. Also so the video was not boring I added music to the interview to keep
people’s attention and not make it seem like the video was dragging on. I also
asked different question to different age groups to get their perspectives on
topics. My interviews involved a freshman, sophomore and someone that’s staff. This
technique was good to show the aspects of how people feel being a student
athlete.
For all
this work that I did for this midterm video I don’t expect anything less than
an A. some may think that I am aiming really high but, I feel I worked really
hard on these video. Also I used my peer’s feedback to adjust my video. Even up
to the point of making words stay on the screen two seconds longer so that it
is easier for people to read it. I also think that this was good because, I may
think that it is easy to read something but, others may find it more
challenging. Also I didn’t think about people that are slow readers.
Also
the technology I used was windows movie maker and I found it quite easy to use.
I had a little bit of experience with this software because, I made highlight
tapes for me and my football teammates. With this video I was able to learn a
few more tip and tricks to use and add to my video. Such as screen effects plus
starting and stopping music from playing when people talk. I felt that I made this
video look very professional and I was very happy with the outcome of my hard
work. I’m not going to lie I finished my video the day before Thursday before
submitting it. The only reason I took so long was that it was hard to meet with
people for interviews. Overall though I feel that if I would have took more time
I could have made the video better but, I was very satisfied of my final
product that I submitted.
